Code of Discipline

Key Rules and Guidelines

Noble Silence: Students observe complete silence of body, speech, and mind from Day 0 until the morning of Day 10. This includes refraining from communication with fellow meditators through gestures, notes, or eye contact.
Five Precepts: All participants must conscientiously undertake the following five precepts for the duration of the course:
1.To abstain from killing any being.
2.To abstain from stealing.
3.To abstain from all sexual activity.
4.To abstain from telling lies.
5.To abstain from all intoxicants.
Additional Precepts for Old Students: Those who have completed a previous 10-day course are expected to observe three additional precepts: abstaining from eating after midday, abstaining from sensual entertainment and bodily decorations, and abstaining from using high or luxurious beds.
Separation: Strict segregation of men and women is maintained throughout the course.
No Outside Contact: All external communication devices, books, writing materials, and electronic gadgets must be surrendered at the start of the course to ensure complete cut-off from the outside world.
Food: Simple, vegetarian meals are provided by the center. No outside food is permitted.
Clothing: Modest, comfortable, and simple clothing that covers the shoulders and knees is required.

Course Finances

Vipassana courses, including food and accommodation, are offered completely free of charge. All expenses are met through voluntary donations from past students who have experienced the benefits of Vipassana and wish to share this opportunity with others. Neither the teacher nor the assistant teachers receive remuneration, volunteering their time freely .
